OLIVA TWEEST… The First Afrobeats Musical To Show Live in the West End Is Back.
If you are a lover of African dance and contemporary music, then this is the perfect event for you to attend this weekend. “Oliva Tweest” was inspired by award-winning Nigerian artist D’Banj and his 2012 hit song “Oliver Twist”. The afrobeats musical presented by The Marimba Project is back for a hugely anticipated performance at London’s legendary Hackney Empire on the 6th and 7th of September 2014.
Oliva Tweest was written by Hackney native Nana Duncan and created and produced by Yinka Ayinde. Last year’s show featured special guest cameos from award-winning comedians Eddie Kadi and A Dot Comedian, it also starred Dorcas Fapson who went on to star in MTV Shuga. This year’s show presents a brand new cast with choreography directed by Ezinne Asinugo from C.E.O Dancers. The show will feature live renditions of songs from Tiwa Savage, Davido, Fuse ODG, Wizkid and many other popular afrobeat tracks. Oliva Tweest is a celebration of the afrobeats genre of music. It also tells the tale of a young man Tobi who in the attempt to woo a female singer finds out her world is but a facade.
Well we’re not going to tell you the whole story here, why don’t you catch the musical yourself – visit the Oliva Tweest musical website.
